DEMOCRATS PASS CRITICAL AID FOR RESTAURANTS & SMALL BUSINESSES
This week, House Democrats passed the Relief for Restaurants and Other Hard Hit Small Businesses Act to provide relief for businesses that have been especially impacted by the economic effects of the pandemic. As a former restaurant owner, Congressman DeSaulnier knows how critical this aid is to small business owners and their employees across the country and was proud to speak on the House Floor in support of the bill. He also had the honor of presiding over the House Floor as Democrats passed this important legislation. To hear the Congressman's remarks on this issue, click here or on the image below.

DEMOCRATS EXPAND ACCESS TO THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT
Last week, Congressman DeSaulnier joined President Biden, Vice President Harris, former President Obama, and his Democratic colleagues in Congress at the White House as the President signed an executive order that will make it possible for more Americans to afford health insurance.
IN COMMITTEE
At a recent House Committee on Education and Labor hearing, Congressman DeSaulnier had the opportunity to speak with the Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra about ways to ensure that lifesaving drugs are affordable for all Americans, an issue that is personal to Mark as a cancer survivor and Chair of the Cancer Survivors Caucus. LEGISLATIVE UPDATE
Congressman DeSaulnier Votes to Further Severe Economic Punishments on Russia
President Putin's aggression and war crimes have horrified the world and demand a strong response. To hold Russia accountable for its unprovoked, premeditated war against Ukraine, the House again passed legislation to ban the import of Russian oil and suspend normal trade relations with Russia (H.R. 7108 and H.R. 6968). These bills passed overwhelmingly in the House with Congressman DeSaulnier's support and were signed into law by President Biden last Friday.
House Votes to Hold Former Trump Administration Officials Accountable with DeSaulnier's Support
Since the creation of a House committee to investigate the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol, some former Trump Administration aides have refused to cooperate with this lawful investigation. Last week, the House passed a measure to hold Dan Scavino and Peter Navarro in contempt of Congress for their refusal to help the public fully understand the events of January 6th. Congressman DeSaulnier voted in support of this measure, which passed by a vote of 220-to-203, and these individuals will be referred to the U.S. Department of Justice for potential prosecution.
