DeSaulnier Votes to Decrease Fuel Costs and Address Inflation
As inflation remains high, largely due to Putin's war against Ukraine, House Democrats know families are feeling the economic effects. Congressman DeSaulnier joined with his colleagues in taking action with a bipartisan six-bill package to bring down expenses for American families by lowering fertilizer costs for farmers, increasing meat processing capacity and expanding access to Unleaded 88. The Lower Food and Fuel Costs Act (H.R. 7606) passed with Mark's support by a vote of 221-to-204.

DeSaulnier Supports Legislation to Advance Equity in Access to Banking and Credit
People of color, LGBTQ Americans, individuals with disabilities, veterans, and others have faced discriminatory practices when trying to access credit. This contributes to racial wealth gaps, lower homeownership rates, difficulty in starting small businesses, and other financial challenges. To promote equal access to banking and credit for all, last week Congressman DeSaulnier voted for the Financial Services Racial Equity, Inclusion and Economic Justice Act (H.R. 2543). This legislation, which passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 215-to-207, is a package of bills that would crack down on discriminatory lending practices, help banks better serve disadvantaged populations, and promote transparency for financial institutions. This legislation included provisions written by Congressman DeSaulnier to promote access to mortgages for veterans and disabled Americans, and to help reduce the number of Americans who do not have adequate access to banking services.

House Passes Wildlife Conservation Bill with DeSaulnier's Support
Habitat loss, climate change, invasive species, wildfires, drought, and emerging diseases are driving increased threats to America's wildlife. In order to support the conservation work of state and tribal governments, Congressman DeSaulnier voted for the Recovering America's Wildlife Act (H.R. 2773). This legislation would provide states, territories, and tribes with an additional $1.3 billion a year to support their work to protect at-risk wildlife, and it passed the House by a vote of 231-to-190.

COMMITTEE UPDATE

Congressman DeSaulnier Discusses Supporting Workers with Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh
Last year, Mark welcomed Secretary Walsh to Contra Costa County to explore the progress we've made transitioning to clean energy while supporting our workforce. Recently, at a Committee on Education and Labor hearing, they discussed further how we can implement the Bay Area model across the country to support all American workers.
