ON THE HOUSE FLOOR
DeSaulnier-Authored Efforts to Improve Air Travel Included in House-Passed Federal Aviation Administration Reauthorization
As a member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, Congressman DeSaulnier has worked for years to improve aviation safety. Last week, the House considered the Securing Growth and Robust Leadership in American Aviation Act (H.R. 3935), which would reauthorize the Federal Aviation Administration and make improvements to aviation safety, advance protections for passengers, and bolster the aviation workforce. Seven initiatives that the Congressman authored were included in the bill, including the creation of a Task Force on Human Factors in Aviation Safety to make recommendations on improving pilot and crew training, a measure to ensure airports are prepared to deal with the effects of climate change, and provisions to address near-misses and surface safety risks. H.R. 3935 passed the House by a strong bipartisan vote of 351-to-69. To see Congressman DeSaulnier’s remarks during House floor debate on the bill, click here.
