FY2026 Local Project Funding Submissions

LOCAL PROJECTS FUNDING SUBMISSIONS

Once again, Congress will be providing Member-directed federal funding to a select number of Community Projects through the appropriations process. Under this process, each House member is allowed to submit 15 project requests on behalf of their Congressional District to the Appropriations Committee, though a smaller number of requests may be selected by the Committee to advance through the process and ultimately receive funding. 

Entities Eligible to Submit Community Project Funding Requests

Governmental organizations and non-profits with 501(c)(3) status are eligible to submit project requests, though non-profits are not eligible for all funding opportunities.
 

Eligible Projects

For FY2026, Community Project Funding requests are available from 35 accounts across 7 different appropriations bills. In-depth information on eligibility requirements and allowable uses for each account can be found here on the Appropriations Committee website or here in condensed form. 

The Committee will give preference to project requests that already have local, state, or private funding and only need the remaining federal funds to fully complete the project or implement the program.

In addition, community engagement and support is crucial in determining which projects are worthy of federal funding. Only projects with demonstrated community support will be considered. Examples of these include, but are not limited to:

• Letters of support from elected community leaders (e.g., mayors or other officials);
• Press articles highlighting the need for the requested Community Project Funding;
• Support from newspaper editorial boards;
• Projects listed on State intended use plans, community development plans, or other publicly available planning documents; or
• Resolutions passed by city councils or boards

The submissions for Fiscal Year 2026 are now closed.

Transparency

All requests submitted by Congressman DeSaulnier to the Appropriations Committee will be posted on this page by June 13, 2025. Members are required to certify that neither they nor their immediate family have a financial interest in the requests made.

Project Name: Ultraviolet (UV) Disinfection Replacement Project

Project Description: Upgrading the ultraviolet (UV) technology to disinfect treated wastewater, making the process more energy efficient and increasing disinfection capacity during wet weather events, all of which will reduce the energy footprint of water treatment and protect public health and water quality in the region.
