Congressman DeSaulnier Addresses Civic Engagement and School Infrastructure at Committee Hearing
According to a 2023 study by the Institute for Citizens & Scholars, students demonstrate low levels of civic knowledge and engagement. At a recent House Committee on Education & the Workforce hearing on K-12 curricula, Congressman DeSaulnier spoke about the importance of schools as centers of community and parental engagement. Mark also addressed school infrastructure issues, including the nationwide hardening of school security due to easy access to guns as well as school accessibility for students with disabilities. IN THE COMMUNITY

Mark Presents Funding Check to Unity Council Child Development Center
Congressman DeSaulnier presented $500,000 in federal funding he secured to the Bay Area-based Unity Council for their Monument Corridor Head Start and Early Head Start Preschool project in Concord to support quality early childhood education. After the check presentation, Mark visited with preschool teachers and students in their classrooms.
