CONGRESSMAN DESAULNIER WORKS TO EXPAND MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES
While landmark legislation like the Affordable Care Act has expanded health access for millions of Americans, there are still 28.9 million individuals without health insurance in our country. Congressman DeSaulnier spoke with experts at a House Oversight Committee hearing on the need to expand behavioral health services, including through his bill, the Suicide Prevention Assistance Act, which would help doctors connect patients to the mental health treatment they need. Having lost his own father to suicide nearly 33 years ago, this issue is personal to Mark. Tune in to learn more by clicking here or on the image below.
DEMOCRATS PUSH TO MAKE INSULIN AFFORDABLE
Insulin remains unaffordable for too many Americans, sometimes with tragic results. Last week, Congressman DeSaulnier helped lead the charge on the House Floor to push for passage of the Affordable Insulin Now Act, which would ensure affordable access to life-saving medication for the over 37 million diabetic Americans. The bill passed with Congressman DeSaulnier's support by a vote of 232-to-193. To hear the Congressman's remarks, click here or on the image below.
EFFORTS TO IMPROVE MILITARY HEALTH CARE SYSTEM
Last week, Congressman DeSaulnier had the honor of standing by the Luckey family as they gave courageous testimony before the House Armed Services Committee at a hearing on improving quality of care in the military - a deeply personal issue to them. Tragically, their daughter, Danyelle, a Navy sailor, died due to inadequate care while serving aboard a Navy ship. For the past 6 years, the Luckey family has been seeking justice and answers from the Navy about why their daughter was denied care, which quickly led to her tragic death. Congressman DeSaulnier is proud to stand with them in this fight for accountability to make sure nobody else who signs up to serve this country suffers like Danyelle did. IN THE NEWS
