LEGISLATIVE UPDATE
Mark Votes to Keep the Government Open
Last Friday, the government was set to shut down unless Congress passed a short-term extension of the budget while negotiations over the long-term fix are ongoing. The Congressman voted in favor of the short-term fix, which passed despite Republican opposition by a vote of 221-to-212. Fortunately, the measure also passed in the Senate and was signed into law to avoid the shutdown.
