The DeSaulnier Digest: Join Our Town Hall with Rep. McGovern on Thursday!
This Thursday, I am hosting a town hall in Lafayette with special guest Congressman Jim McGovern (MA-02), a prominent member of Democratic Leadership and the top Democrat on the House Committee on Rules, to provide updates on our work to stand up for American families and resist the Trump agenda.
Rep. McGovern is an expert on legislative procedure and will provide a behind the scenes look at the tools House Democrats are using to push back against Republicans' harmful policies in Congress. We will also take your questions.
This event is RSVP only and the venue has limited capacity. Click here or on the flyer below to RSVP. The exact location will be shared with those who RSVP'd in advance of the event. The event will also be livestreamed on Facebook and YouTube for those unable to attend in-person.
I hope you will join us this Thursday for a timely conversation.

Sincerely,
Mark DeSaulnier
Member of Congress
LEGISLATIVE UPDATES
DeSaulnier Introduces Bill to Extend HOV Lane Access for Electric Vehicles
Currently, several states, including California, use a federal program to allow certain electric and alternate fuel vehicles access to High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes. Unfortunately, the federal program will expire on September 30, 2025 unless action is taken, which is why Congressman DeSaulnier introduced the HOV Lane Exemption Reauthorization Act (H.R. 4948) to extend the program through 2031. The extension will allow for further incentives to lower greenhouse gas emissions and help to reduce congestion along roadways. Congressman DeSaulnier Introduces Bills to Address Gun Violence
Gun violence is a public health epidemic, and addressing it requires scientific, evidence-based solutions like the ones we have used to solve other public health issues. Congressman DeSaulnier recently introduced three bills to treat this problem with the seriousness and common sense it deserves:
• The Gun Safety Board and Research Act (H.R. 4882), which would create a nonpartisan Gun Safety Board to conduct research and recommend unbiased gun safety policies.
• The Local Gun Violence Reduction Act (H.R. 4883), which would create a database where responsible states and localities can share the successful reforms they have made with governments around the country so they can be studied and replicated.
• The Advancing Gun Safety Technology Act (H.R. 4918), which would speed deployment of gun safety technology like smart guns, user-authorized handguns, childproof guns, personalized guns, and safes and locking devices that include personalized technology.
