The DeSaulnier Digest: Join Our Town Hall on Wednesday!
As I continue my work in the East Bay this month, I am hosting another town hall this Wednesday, April 23rd at 6:30 p.m. in Lafayette to provide an update on my work in Congress to hold the Administration accountable and to stand up for the American people. I have heard from thousands of constituents about your growing fear and anger at the actions of President Trump, and this event will be an opportunity for me to address your questions. Space is limited, but if you RSVP soon by clicking here, you can still get on the list to attend in person.
If you'd prefer to participate via livestream, you can join virtually at the links below.

IN THE COMMUNITY
Congressman DeSaulnier Hosts Immigration Town Hall and Resource Fair
Mark hosted an Immigration Town Hall and Resource Fair in Danville last week to address constituent concerns about the Trump Administration's immigration policies, including threats to open an immigrant detention facility at what was formerly FCI Dublin. Prior to the town hall, local organizations were in attendance to share resources on the immigration process and immigrant rights.
Before the town hall the Congressman also spoke with local news stations about the unconstitutionality of much of the Administration's immigration policy and his strong opposition to the opening of a detention facility in Dublin. Mark Continues Education Listening Tour Around CA-10
As a senior member of the Education and Workforce Committee, Congressman DeSaulnier has long prioritized supporting public education. Last week, he visited schools in Danville, Walnut Creek, and Concord to connect with students, teachers, and administrators. As the Trump Administration continues its attacks on education, Congressman DeSaulnier has prioritized meeting with those at the forefront of education in CA-10.

Congressman DeSaulnier Connects with Local Elected Officials on Federal Funding
With the appropriations process beginning for the next fiscal year, Mark joined meetings this week of the Danville Town Council and the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors to discuss opportunities for federal funding in CA-10, notably Community Project Funding. In the past few years, the Congressman has successfully secured nearly $50 million in Community Project Funding for local governments and organizations to invest in transportation and infrastructure, improve public safety, and address other priorities in the East Bay.

Mark Visits California Air Resources Board
Congressman DeSaulnier sat down with leaders from the California Air Resources Board, of which he is a former member, to discuss the important work ahead to safeguard our state's environmental policies against attacks from the Trump Administration. They also discussed his work in Congress to protect clean vehicle emissions standards and to support the clean energy transition.

LEGISLATIVE UPDATE
Congressman DeSaulnier Opposes Attack on Checks and Balances and Judicial Oversight
In recent weeks, federal judges appointed by both Republican and Democratic presidents have issued temporary restraining orders blocking unlawful actions by the Trump Administration. Orders issued by federal district judges have temporarily blocked the Administration's funding freezes, mass firings, and more, giving courts time to deliberate the legality of those actions before they take effect. Recently, in an attempt to limit the oversight that federal courts have of the President, House Republicans held a vote on the No Rogue Rulings Act (H.R. 1526). If enacted, H.R. 1526 would limit certain rulings issued by any federal district judge strictly to the parties directly involved in the specific case, even if the matter under review has nationwide impact. This bill would critically weaken the ability of federal district court judges to protect Americans from the unlawful and unconstitutional actions of a rogue Executive Branch. Congressman DeSaulnier voted against H.R. 1526 when it came before the House of Representatives, but unfortunately it passed and now awaits further action in the U.S. Senate.
Mark Opposes Big Bank and Big Tech Giveaways that Harm Consumers
Under the Biden Administration, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) put out two rules that protect consumers from excessive fees and provide oversight and transparency to digital payment apps and could provide cost savings of over $5 billion in overdraft fees annually. In response, Republicans pushed legislation that overturns these rules and shortchanges consumers instead. S.J.Res. 18 would overturn the CFPB's rule that reduces overdraft fees from $35 to $5 for only the largest institutions; and S.J.Res. 28 would overturn the rule that requires the same oversight of digital payment apps, like Paypal or Cashapp, as banks have. Despite the Congressman's strong opposition to these two bills, they both passed in the House.
