The DeSaulnier Digest: March District Work Period

March 24, 2025
DeSaulnier Digest

Across the country, House Democrats are holding town halls in our communities to hear directly from constituents concerned about the actions of the Trump Administration, particularly attempts to dismantle public education, rip away health care, and gut Social Security.

This past District Work Period, I held my third in-person town hall this year in Concord to provide an update on how Democrats in Congress are fighting back against the Administration and recent court cases won as part of these efforts and to take your questions. As always, I was heartened by the overwhelming participation and, as I head back to Washington this week, I am grateful to be able to bring your perspectives with me to the halls of Congress.

If you were not able to join the conversation, you can watch a recording of the event by clicking here or on the image below. We will also be hosting more town halls in the coming weeks - stay tuned through this newsletter and our social media channels for announcements about these events. I look forward to engaging with you soon.

Sincerely,

Mark DeSaulnier
Member of Congress

DEMOCRATS UNITED AGAINST CUTS TO MEDICAID

Congressman DeSaulnier Holds Medicaid Roundtable to Discuss Impact of Republican Proposed Cuts
Mark convened health care providers and advocates for a Medicaid roundtable to discuss how the Republican-proposed Medicaid cuts would harm children, families, seniors, and the disability community here in the Bay Area and around the country. The discussion reiterated the devastating impact these cuts would have by denying lifesaving care to millions of Americans, and Congressman DeSaulnier continues to stand with his Democratic colleagues in strongly opposing these cuts.

LEGISLATIVE UPDATE

Congressman DeSaulnier Opposes Atrocious Attacks on the Department of Education
Across the country, students are struggling, with a recent study finding that more than two-thirds of eighth graders can’t read at grade level. Last week, rather than providing more resources to our schools to support our nation’s students and families, President Trump signed an Executive Order aimed at dismantling the U.S. Department of Education. As a senior member of the House Committee on Education & Workforce, Congressman DeSaulnier joined a resolution demanding information on the impact of dismantling the Department and urged his Republican colleagues to listen to the thousands of students, teachers, and families in their districts who will be harmed by this reckless action and fight back with him.
