The DeSaulnier Digest: Mark Secures Over $15 Million for Community Projects in Contra Costa and Alameda Counties

March 11, 2024
DeSaulnier Digest

I am proud to announce that I was able to secure over $15.2 million for community projects across Contra Costa and Alameda Counties in the 2024 appropriations bill that President Biden signed into law on Saturday. This funding will go to 15 projects in our community to address homelessness and the high cost of living, improve transportation systems and infrastructure, bolster public safety, protect the environment, and expand access to quality education. You can learn more about each of these projects and how they will make a difference in our district by clicking here.

Sincerely,

Mark DeSaulnier
Member of Congress

LEGISLATIVE UPDATES

Congressman DeSaulnier Supports Long-Term Government Funding
Since October 1, 2023, House Republican Leadership have had to pass five separate short-term funding extensions to avoid a government shutdown, while they kept pushing for drastic cuts to programs Americans rely on. After finally engaging in meaningful talks with Democrats, an agreement was reached on half of the outstanding funding bills, which was swiftly passed in the House and Senate and signed into law by President Biden. This bill also included the $15.2 million in funding directly for projects in California’s 10th Congressional District mentioned above. The second half of government funding must now be passed and signed into law by March 22nd.

Mark Opposes Bill to Deregulate Wall Street
Various federal regulations on investment products promote transparency and accountability, helping consumers save and invest with confidence. Last week, House Republicans advanced a bill (H.R. 2799) that would roll back regulations and leave consumers less protected from fraud and risky investments. Despite Congressman DeSaulnier’s opposition, this bill passed the House by a vote of 212-to-205.
