MOURNING JUSTICE GINSBURG

A fierce advocate for equal rights, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg stood as an icon for justice for all. Through her career from arguing in front of the Supreme Court and sitting in the highest Court in the country for 27 years, she will go down in history as one of the most effective and thoughtful advocates for women’s equality. This nation is better because of her service.

As health care, reproductive freedom, workers' rights, voting rights, protections for LGBTQ+ Americans, and more are on the line, the American people deserve to have a voice in the selection of the next Supreme Court Justice. Despite Leader McConnell's refusal in 2016 to hold a vote on President Obama's Supreme Court nominee, he committed today to ram through a nominee before the election, which is both hypocritical and undemocratic.

Democrats Continue Push for Relief for Struggling Families

While Congressional Republicans continue to refuse to provide funding that experts, scientists, and the American people know is desperately needed, Democrats remain committed to helping the businesses and millions of Americans suffering through this pandemic. During this devastating public health and economic crisis, the American public deserve better than the red herring legislation that was offered by Republicans in the U.S. Senate.

House and Senate Democrats have repeatedly offered compromise solutions to Congressional Republicans and the President in order to meet in the middle, but have still not received a serious offer from Republicans. Speaker Pelosi has announced that the House will change its schedule and remain in session to keep working on this because it is too important to give up, despite the resistance from the other side of the aisle. The American people need and deserve meaningful relief.
