LEGISLATIVE UPDATE
Mark Continues Leadership on Protecting Children from Vaping
While the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has taken some e-cigarettes off the market, the FDA still has more work to do in order to safeguard children's health. To ensure that the FDA takes all the necessary steps to end the youth vaping epidemic, last week Mark led a letter signed by 17 of his colleagues urging the agency to remove e-cigarettes from the market until they have been properly reviewed. Mark will continue to push the FDA to help prevent more children from developing a lifelong addiction to nicotine products.
DeSaulnier Authors Bill to Increase Access to Housing
Contra Costa County and the Bay Area have seen first-hand how a lack of affordable housing leads to mega-commutes, congestion, and lowered quality of life. In fact, the East Bay is home to several of the country's worst commutes. To help address the shortage of housing supply and encourage innovative solutions, Congressman DeSaulnier introduced the Housing Innovation Act (H.R. 8266).
IN COMMITTEE
Congressman DeSaulnier Discusses Biden Administration's Work on Substance Use Disorder with Top Official

At a recent hearing before the House Committee on Oversight and Reform, Congressman DeSaulnier spoke with Dr. Rahul Gupta, Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy on how the 2022 National Drug Control Strategy will help build a more recovery-ready nation.
