The DeSaulnier Digest: Supporting the Bay Area through Historic Infrastructure Investments and Saving Local News
Democrats in Congress recently passed into law a landmark investment in our nation's infrastructure that will create jobs and support families here in Contra Costa and across the country. At U.A. Local 38's training center, I joined Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Representatives Barbara Lee, Jackie Speier, and Anna Eshoo to discuss how the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act would back the labor community, ensure workers across the Bay Area have the training to thrive in our economy, and grow the middle class. I am proud of the investments Democrats have made to support working people and I look forward to continuing these efforts as we build back our economy stronger than before.
Sincerely,
Mark DeSaulnier
Member of Congress

MARK'S EFFORTS TO SAVE LOCAL NEWS
Congressman DeSaulnier Introduces Legislative Package to Support and Preserve Local Journalism
To combat the troubling disappearance of local news outlets that are essential to the functioning of our democracy, Congressman DeSaulnier recently introduced legislation that would support and protect local news: first, by recognizing its importance and expressing the urgent need for Congress to help stop the decline and second, by making it easier for newspapers to become non-profits, allowing them the flexibility to focus less on maximizing profits and more on producing quality content.
