LEGISLATIVE UPDATE

House Votes on Senate-Passed Debt Limit Agreement
After obstruction from House and Senate Republicans, an agreement was reached on a short-term increase to the debt limit. The bill (S. 1301) would ensure that the government can meet its financial obligations through early December. The bill passed in the House with Congressman DeSaulnier's support. Congressman DeSaulnier remains committed to a long-term solution on the debt limit so that Medicare, Social Security, military pay, and other important government programs are not subjected to financial uncertainty.
