CONGRESSMAN DESAULNIER AND CHAIRMAN MCGOVERN EXPLORE SOLUTIONS TO HUNGER

Last week, Congressman DeSaulnier welcomed the Chairman of the House Committee on Rules Jim McGovern (MA-02) to Contra Costa to showcase Bay Area efforts to end hunger. With both Members serving on the Rules Committee, this visit is part of a series of Rules Committee events highlighting the nation's food insecurity crisis and exploring steps Congress can take to equitably combat it.

Congressman DeSaulnier and Chairman McGovern visited Mount Diablo High School's Sustainable Hospitality Program, an example of the Bay Area's leadership in promoting a just food system. Here, they had a chance to speak with students about the program's mission as they continue their work in Congress to end hunger. To hear more about the visits and the work being done there, click here or on the image below.

Continuing their tour, Representatives DeSaulnier and McGovern explored Urban Tilth, an urban farm in Richmond dedicated to building a more sustainable, healthy, and just food system through community engagement and local sourcing.
