The DeSaulnier Digest: Tune into our Town Hall Live on Thursday
In its first two months, the Trump Administration has continued to pursue policies that would harm Americans by cutting critical programs they rely on, including Medicaid, SNAP, and Social Security in order to give even more tax cuts to billionaires.
House Democrats and our allies are fighting back against these dangerous actions on behalf of the American people, and we have had key victories in the courts. I'm hosting a town hall onThursday, March 20th from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. to provide an update on this work, and although we have reached capacity at the venue, our livestreams offer the ability to participate from home. If you were hoping to join us but had not yet RSVP'd, you can watch the event live on Facebook or YouTube.

As always, we will continue holding town halls regularly throughout the year, so stay tuned on our social media channels for the next opportunity if you are unable to join us in person this time.
I look forward to seeing many of you both in person and via livestream on Thursday!
Sincerely,

ON THE FLOOR
Mark Opposes Irresponsible Government Funding Legislation
As the March 14th government funding deadline approached last week, Congressional Republicans advanced an extreme, partisan funding bill that makes irresponsible cuts to nutrition assistance programs, health care for veterans, and other important priorities while giving a blank check to President Trump and Elon Musk to continue dismantling programs like Social Security and Medicaid. Congressman DeSaulnier opposed House passage of this bill, but despite his opposition, the bill passed the House by a vote of 217-to-213, later passed the Senate, and was signed into law by the President.
If Republicans needed our votes, we should have held them to our previous bipartisan agreement and leveraged our position to get a bill that works for everyone rather than bailing Republicans out again and handing more power to the President and Musk. With so much on the line, including Americans’ lives and livelihoods and Congress’s constitutional power of the purse, this was the time to fight, not relent to Republicans holding the government hostage.

IN THE NEWS
Congressman DeSaulnier Speaks to KTVU about Republicans’ Dangerous Agenda
Congressman DeSaulnier joined KTVU’s Claudine Wong to explain why he, along with almost every one of his House Democratic colleagues, voted against Republicans’ extreme, partisan funding bill that allows President Trump and Elon Musk to continue taking from middle-class Americans to give more tax breaks to the ultrawealthy. House Democrats remain united against Congressional Republicans’ and President Trump’s agenda that would hurt working Americans, veterans, and seniors.

LEGISLATIVE UPDATES
Congressman DeSaulnier Introduces Bill to Improve Suicide Prevention Efforts
Approximately 45% of people who die by suicide visit their primary care provider within a month prior to their death, highlighting the need for better integration of mental and behavioral health care into primary care. Congressman DeSaulnier recently introduced the Suicide Prevention Assistance Act (H.R. 2044) to advance this goal. The bill would create a grant program to allow for on-site mental health professionals in doctors' offices and other primary care settings. Congressman DeSaulnier lost his father to suicide in 1989, and his work on suicide prevention efforts is motivated by his family’s experience.
