LEGISLATIVE ACTION

Update on Coronavirus Relief Negotiations and Government Funding

Democrats in the House and Senate have been hard at work completing the budget that will take us through September 2021. To avoid a government shutdown and give Members the time they need to finalize a deal, the House extended the deadline until this Friday, December 18th. Additionally, negotiations continue to find an agreement on a package to provide much-needed relief to families and businesses suffering during the coronavirus pandemic. As the country waits for wide-spread vaccinations, Congress must pass support before the holidays.

Congressman DeSaulnier Opposes Passage of the National Defense Authorization Act

For decades, spending at the Department of Defense has gone unchecked and this year it has ballooned to $740 billion. As a long-time supporter of a full audit of the Department of Defense, the American people deserve more information about how that money is being spent before we continue writing blank checks. At a time when American families and businesses are suffering, we should spend that money where it is needed most.
