The DeSaulnier Digest: Upcoming Town Hall and Congressman DeSaulnier's Efforts to Prevent Gun Violence
The Bay Area, as the second largest oil refining center on the West Coast, has a unique role to play in the fight against climate change and the transition to clean energy. On Wednesday, September 22nd at 6:00 p.m. PT, I am hosting a town hall on the New Energy Economy and Contra Costa to discuss the impact the transition will have on our area, which is home to four oil refineries, and my efforts in Congress to support the workforce so that no one gets left behind as we move to a clean energy future.

Congressman DeSaulnier Introduces Bill to Help End Gun Violence
Continuing his longtime efforts to advance gun violence prevention, Congressman DeSaulnier introduced the Gun Safety Board and Research Act (H.R. 5273), a bill that would help to combat our nation's gun violence epidemic through evidence-based, scientific solutions. In recognition that gun violence is a public health crisis, the bill would establish a board of experts housed at the Department of Health and Human Services responsible for conducting research, evaluating federal and state policy proposals, and recommending best practices for reducing firearm deaths. To learn more about this important bill, including to hear from leading gun violence prevention organizations like Brady and Everytown, which includes Moms Demand Action, on their support for the bill, click here.
