The DeSaulnier Digest: Upcoming Town Hall and Democrats' Success in Lowering Drug Costs for Millions
On Tuesday August 27th, I am hosting a Transportation Town Hall at the Antioch Community Center at 6:30 p.m. to discuss reducing commute times and supporting working families as the Bay Area has a large population of mega-commuters who spend hours each day commuting between work and home.

LEGISLATIVE UPDATES
Democrats Lower Prescription Drug Costs for Millions of Americans
Throughout his time in Congress, Mark has been working to make prescription drugs more affordable, starting as a senior member of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform where he led the effort to investigate pharmaceutical pricing and harmful business practices that made drug prices out of reach for too many while executives at those companies padded their pockets. This investigation revealed the need for structural reforms to lower drug costs, which were achieved through passage of the Inflation Reduction Act that Congressman DeSaulnier was proud to vote for.
Just last week, a historic agreement was reached between Medicare and several drug companies that will lower the cost of 10 frequently used medications. Mark celebrated this agreement and the fact that millions of Americans will no longer be forced to choose between life-saving medications and other everyday necessities. Congressman DeSaulnier Introduces Bill to Address Youth Vaping Epidemic
A 2023 nationwide survey found that 7.7% of middle and high school students were e-cigarette users. Despite high rates of youth e-cigarette use, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has moved slowly in taking enforcement action against e-cigarette products that are targeted at youth. In order to address high levels of youth e-cigarette use and to help prevent more children from getting hooked, Congressman DeSaulnier introduced the Preventing Vape Use Act (H.R. 9367). The Congressman's bill would prevent the sale of any e-cigarettes that have not been properly reviewed by the FDA. Congressman DeSaulnier will continue pushing the FDA to protect children from addiction to e-cigarettes and other tobacco products.
