LEGISLATIVE UPDATE

DeSaulnier Votes to Further Isolate Russia
Congressman DeSaulnier voted to impose new economic punishments on Russia as it continues its heinous and unlawful war on Ukraine. The Suspending Normal Trade Relations with Russia and Belarus Act (H.R. 7108) suspends normal trade relations with both countries. This legislation would allow President Biden to raise tariffs on Russian and Belarusian goods, further isolating their economies and cutting off funds for Vladimir Putin's war. With Congressman DeSaulnier's support, the bill passed by a vote of 424-to-8.

House Passes Bill to End Forced Arbitration with DeSaulnier's Support
Individuals are often forced to resolve disputes with employers and companies through arbitration, where the more powerful party has the upper hand, instead of through the court system. Congressman DeSaulnier voted for House passage ofthe FAIR Act (H.R. 963), which would ensure that individuals who have been wronged by employers and corporations have their day in court. The bill passed with Congressman DeSaulnier's support by a vote of 222-to-209.

Congressman DeSaulnier Supports Effort to Ban Racial Discrimination
People of different races and religions are routinely and wrongfully made to cut their hair or change their hairstyles for work, school, or other environments in the United States. Congressman DeSaulnier voted for House passage of the CROWN Act (H.R. 2116) to prohibit race-based discrimination against hairstyles in employment and other public accommodations. This bill passed the House of Representatives with Congressman DeSaulnier's support by a vote of 235-to-189.
