The DeSaulnier Digest: Update on the Build Back Better Act and Upcoming Virtual Office Hours
Following a busy week in Contra Costa, I am back in Washington, D.C. to continue working with my Democratic colleagues to advance the Build Back Better Act, which would support American families through landmark investments in family care, housing, health care, education, climate, and more. This bill would make our economy work for everyone and have a lasting, positive impact on families across the country. I am very encouraged by the progress we have made so far on behalf of the American people and am looking forward to delivering these much-needed investments.
Sincerely,
Mark DeSaulnier
Member of Congress

LEGISLATIVE UPDATE
House Passes Bill to Strengthen Federal Investment in Intimate Partner Violence Prevention
In the United States, intimate partner violence (IPV) is all too common, and the coronavirus pandemic has exacerbated the risk for IPV and disrupted services that protect and support survivors. Yet, the Family Violence Prevention and Services Act (FVPSA), which provides critical resources for survivors of IPV, has not been reauthorized since 2010. To improve these underfunded and outdated programs, Congressman DeSaulnier joined his colleagues in voting for the Family Violence Prevention and Services Improvement Act (H.R. 2119), which would increase prevention efforts and ensure that survivors get the resources they need. The bill passed the U.S. House of Representatives with Congressman DeSaulnier's support by a vote of 228-to-200.
IN COMMITTEE
Since the 1970s, Big Oil companies like ExxonMobil have fueled the climate crisis while spending billions to cover it up and prevent action to mitigate it. Last week, at an Oversight Committee hearing, Congressman DeSaulnier pressed the CEO of ExxonMobil on how the company will end their disinformation campaign and start to make real change for the sake of our economy and our environment. Tune in by clicking here or on the image below.
IN THE COMMUNITY
This week, Congressman DeSaulnier joined the Pittsburg community to remember the life and service of Danyelle Luckey, a fallen U.S. Navy Sailor and Contra Costa native.
