The DeSaulnier Digest: Wrapping Up a Productive District Work Period!

September 3, 2024
DeSaulnier Digest

As summer winds down, I am reflecting on all of the wonderful opportunities I had over this district work period to connect with you in the district through town halls, community events, individual meetings, and more.

Before I return to Capitol Hill next week, I am hosting a virtual Supreme Court Town Hall tomorrow, at 1:00 p.m. to discuss recent Court decisions that have threatened personal freedom and our democracy as well as proposed reforms. I hope you will join us on Zoom with special guest Robert Weissman, co-president of the nonprofit Public Citizen, for this timely conversation. To receive a Zoom link in advance of the virtual event, RSVP here or by clicking on the flyer below.

CELEBRATING LABOR DAY

Hardworking Americans and unions built this country, and on Labor Day, we celebrated the many hard-won victories of the Labor movement from establishing a minimum wage and the 8-hour workday to securing worker safety protections. There remains more to do to safeguard the rights of American workers, and Mark is committed to ensuring that workers succeed so that the entire American economy benefits.

IN THE COMMUNITY

Congressman DeSaulnier Presents Community Project Funding Checks
After securing more than $15 million in Congressional funding for projects across CA-10 last year alone, Mark presented checks to the cities of Lafayette and Oakley for their respective projects. In Lafayette, $900,000 of funding will help restore native wildlife habitat and stabilize a portion of West Reach Creek. In Oakley, their $850,000 will build a new park with an accessible playground, picnic tables, and a turf field. Mark was proud to bring this money to our community.
