District Work Period Recap - April 19
For the last two weeks, I have been home in Contra Costa visiting different corners of the district for our April district work period. We hosted two town halls with over 650 people in attendance, sat down with constituents, met with numerous organizations, celebrated the artistic talents of our students, and heard from leaders in our communities.
As I return to vote in Washington, D.C. this week, please find a snapshot of the work period.
Sincerely,
Mark DeSaulnier
Member of Congress

A CONVERSATION ON RACE
In 2018, Mark began his "Conversation on Race" town hall series and hoped it could become a template to help facilitate discussions on race relations across the country. This past week, we held two more with African American leaders and expert panelists. If you didn't have the chance to attend our events and would like to learn more about our esteemed panelists or watch the meetings in their entirety, visit our Facebook page.
At Diablo Valley College, we were joined by Congresswoman Karen Bass, Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus and the first African American woman to serve as Speaker of any state assembly in the country, and a trio of experts from UC Berkeley
In Berkeley, Congresswoman Barbara Lee joined us along with experts from UC Berkeley, Mills College, and Causa Justa
