Looking Back On Our Work In 2018

December 31, 2018
DeSaulnier Digest

As 2018 comes to a close, we wanted to take a moment to look back on all that we have accomplished for Contra Costa County and our country, and find out what you'd like to hear from me about in the coming year.

Among our many accomplishments in 2018, we have:

  • Added an additional 40 acres of recreational space to the John Muir National Historic Site in Martinez;
  • Renamed the Nevin Avenue Post Office after a distinguished member of the Richmond community-Harold D. McCraw Sr. after we helped save it from closure;
  • Created a blueprint for action to put America's workforce on a pathway to success;
  • Passed a law to decrease fraudulent opioid prescriptions and prevent doctor shopping;
  • Increased national investment in transportation projects and enacted policies to make our aviation system safer;
  • Foughtback against efforts to erode environmental protections;
  • Defeated the building of a immigrant detention center at the former Concord Naval Weapons Station; and
  • Honored local Korean War Veterans for their service during the Forgotten War.

A snapshot of our work is included below.

Additionally, next year we will continue the tradition of hosting issue-specific town halls. Please take a few moments to share your thoughts.

As always, I am proud to represent such an engaged and informed community. Many of these accomplishments would not have been possible without your input, and I look forward to continuing to work on your behalf for the next two years--this time in the Majority!

Sincerely,
