Congressman DeSaulnier Announces 2025 Congressional App Challenge

June 3, 2025

Walnut Creek, CA – Today, Congressman Mark DeSaulnier (CA-10) announced he will host the 2025 Congressional App Challenge (CAC), a competition for middle and high school students to showcase their coding and computer science skills by designing original software applications.

Middle and high school students living or attending school in California’s 10th Congressional District are invited to submit an original software application for mobile, tablet, or other computing devices by 9:00 a.m. PT on October 30, 2025.

“Highlighting the importance of STEM education is critical in our rapidly evolving world,” said Congressman DeSaulnier. “The Congressional App Challenge is a wonderful opportunity for young people to hone these skills and to demonstrate their ingenuity. I’m looking forward to once again seeing CA-10’s innovative spirit on full display during the 2025 competition.”

Created to encourage participation in computer science and STEM education, the CAC has inspired tens of thousands of students from all 50 states to use their creativity and technological skills to build new apps.

The winning app from CA-10 will be selected by a panel of local expert judges, recognized by Congressman DeSaulnier, and featured on the House of Representatives website and on display in the U.S. Capitol. The winner will also be invited to the 2026 #HouseofCode celebration in Washington, D.C. with other student coders from across the country.
