Congressman DeSaulnier Announces State of the Union Guest, Concord Resident and Disability Advocate Alisa Rosillo
Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Mark DeSaulnier (CA-10) announced Concord resident and advocate for the disability community, Alisa Rosillo, as his guest to President Trump’s Joint Address to Congress. As a mother to children with disabilities and Chapter Leader of Changing Spaces, California, Ms. Rosillo knows firsthand how federal services, including those offered under Medicaid, are a lifeline for the health, wellbeing, and success of the disability community. Medicaid is the largest provider of health care to people with disabilities, by covering more than 10 million people, and helps support seniors and people with disabilities who rely on home- and community-based services.
“As a staunch advocate for the disability community throughout my decades of public service, I am honored to be joined by Alisa and to help bring her family’s story to the halls of power. My Republican colleagues and the President need to understand and see the human face of the disastrous consequences of their reckless budget that threatens the health care coverage and services tens of millions of Americans rely upon,” said Congressman DeSaulnier.
“I am honored that Congressman DeSaulnier has recognized the 25 years I have tirelessly worked to advocate for my sons and their community,” said Ms. Rosillo. “I see the barriers and challenges that can only be seen from the disability perspective, and I welcome the opportunity to speak on how the proposed budget reductions will have irreparable outcomes for the most vulnerable in our population. It has been historically proven that with the correct amount of support, money can in fact be saved, and lives can be enriched. It is important to stay that course.”
Congressman DeSaulnier is a senior member of the House Committee on Education and Workforce and a member of the Bipartisan Disabilities Caucus.
The Congressman and Ms. Rosillo will be available to press prior to the event. Media interested in conducting an interview should contact Mairead Glowacki at mairead.glowacki@mail.house.gov or at (202) 760-1365.
