Congressman DeSaulnier to Host Youth Mental Health Town Hall and Resource Fair at the John Muir Health, Concord Medical Center
Walnut Creek, CA – Today, Congressman Mark DeSaulnier (CA-10) announced he will host an in-person town hall and resource fair focused on youth mental health at the John Muir Health, Concord Medical Center on August 22nd from 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. The Congressman will be joined by a panel of experts including Lynn Mackey from the Contra Costa County Office of Education, Jill Murphy of Common Sense Media, Gigi Crowder of NAMI Contra Costa, Dr. Lauren Nelson and Anna Sabio from John Muir Health, and more from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. The speakers will cover a variety of issues surrounding improving mental health support for young people with an emphasis on race and equity, suicide prevention, understanding the impact of social media and technology on our youth, school and education resources, youth mental health in the LGBTQ+ community, and more. From 2:30 – 3:30 p.m., there will be a resource fair where members of the community can connect with local organizations to learn more about their important work and how to access mental health resources.
The event will be held at the John Muir Health, Concord Medical Center and will be streamed live on Congressman DeSaulnier’s Facebook page (facebook.com/repmarkdesaulnier).
