Congressman DeSaulnier's Statement on the Redacted Mueller Report

April 18, 2019

Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Mark DeSaulnier (CA-11), Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform, issued the following statement after Attorney General Barr submitted the redacted Special Counsel report to Congress.

"Attorney General Barr proved he is the president's attorney, not the people's. The Mueller Report lays out evidence that President Trump engaged in obstruction of justice and misconduct and tried to get his associates to do the same. Any attempt to say otherwise is an affront to the American people.

"Let's not forget the purpose of this report was to investigate Russia's interference in the 2016 election. Today, the report affirmed Russia meddled in our election in a ‘sweeping and systematic fashion.' The Russians spent millions trying to get Trump elected President. A year out from the 2020 primary elections, we cannot allow for the normalization of foreign powers influencing our democracy. Congress must address this and the unprecedented actions taken by this Administration."
