Congressman Mark DeSaulnier’s Statement on House Ethics Committee’s Report on Former Congressman Matt Gaetz

December 23, 2024

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Mark DeSaulnier (CA-10) made the following statement upon release of the House Ethics Committee’s report on the investigation into the conduct of former Congressman Matt Gaetz (FL-01).

"I believe strongly in the public’s right to the findings of a bipartisan, taxpayer funded investigation, and that transparency and accountability are crucial for good governance and restoring trust in our institutions. For these reasons, it was imperative that this report was released. The report speaks for itself, and I believe the conduct outlined within disqualifies Mr. Gaetz from being entrusted to hold public office ever again.”
