Congressman Mark DeSaulnier’s Statement on Representative George Santos
Washington, DC – Today, the Ethics Committee submitted a report to the U.S. House of Representatives in the Matter of Allegations Relating to Representative George Santos. The Committee unanimously voted to adopt the Investigative Subcommittee’s (ISC’s) report and is referring evidence of potential violations of criminal law to the Department of Justice.
“Following a thorough nine-month investigation, the Ethics Committee found substantial evidence that Representative George Santos violated federal law. He used campaign funds for personal purposes, defrauded donors, and filed false or incomplete campaign and House disclosure reports. Mr. Santos’ conduct is illegal, beneath the dignity of the office of a United States Representative, and dishonors the institution. I believe the U.S. House should immediately act to expel George Santos,” Congressman Mark DeSaulnier, Member of the House Committee on Ethics.
