DeSaulnier Statement on Passage of American Rescue Plan Act
Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Mark DeSaulnier (CA-11) issued the following statement upon passage of the American Rescue Plan Act (H.R. 1319). The bill passed the U.S. House of Representatives by a vote of 220-to-211. It now moves to President Biden's desk to be signed into law.
"With today's passage of the American Rescue Plan Act, Contra Costa families and people around the country will finally get the relief they need and deserve as they fight to recover from the coronavirus pandemic," said Congressman DeSaulnier. "The situation is dire, and we did not let the roadblocks Republicans in the House and Senate threw our way stop us from delivering survival checks, unemployment assistance, vaccination funding, and relief for small businesses. This package puts an end to the inaction of the Trump Administration and demonstrates the Biden Administration's commitment to working with Congress on behalf of all Americans, not just a chosen few."
The American Rescue Plan Act provides survival checks of up to $1,400 to individuals, extends and expands unemployment benefits, invests in acceleration and expansion of vaccinations, provides support to re-open schools safely, and offers relief to our hardest-hit small businesses.
