Washington, DC– Congressman Mark DeSaulnier (CA-11) hails the $1.6 million in federal funds awarded to Contra Costa County's Zero Tolerance Initiative under the U.S. Department of Justice, Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) grants program for Comprehensive Services for Victims of All Forms of Human Trafficking. This funding will help Contra Costa County build on their human trafficking prevention efforts and better identify and serve the victims of human trafficking.

A bill to reauthorize the program for a year, the Higher Education Extension Act (H.R. 3594), was passed on the floor of the U.S.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman DeSaulnier's first stand-alone bill as a Member of Congress was passed on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives. The John Muir National Historic Site Expansion Act (H.R.1289) would add 44 acres of donated land to the Martinez historic site that celebrates the life and legacy of John Muir. This bipartisan legislation will improve access to the park and its scenic trails, including those on Mount Wanda, named for Muir's eldest daughter.
