SHUTDOWN UPDATE
As you know, the federal government shutdown began at midnight last Friday. This is the first shutdown in the history of the United States when one party has control of the House, Senate, and White House. This evening, a bipartisan agreement was reached to continue funding the government for three weeks until February 8th. Below is my statement on the vote:

This week, two major pieces of legislation were considered in Congress that will have a significant impact on every household and the country as a whole. In order to help keep our community informed, we wanted to take the time to send out a special edition of our weekly newsletter that focuses on the Republican tax bill and efforts to fund the government, both of which passed the House and Senate this week and were signed into law today.
