Last Thursday, October 17th, our nation and Congress suffered a great loss with the passing of House Oversight and Reform Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings. He was a steadfast force for good and had a knack for bringing both sides together. Chairman Cummings was a true statesman and defender of justice, who will be remembered for his goodness, decency, and integrity.
Walnut Creek, CA — Today, Congressman Mark DeSaulnier (CA-11) announced that he will host a "Women in Leadership, Politics, and Society" town hall on Saturday, November 2nd in Danville. The town hall will explore the most pressing issues facing women today, like achieving gender and economic equity in the workplace and society, overcoming barriers to women's health care, and increasing the representation of women in government.
This year we are celebrating the 100th anniversary of a woman's right to vote and a record-breaking 127 women were sworn in as part of the most diverse Congressional class in our nation's history! Despite the significant jump in female representation in Congress and the strides we have made in advancing women's rights – we are a far cry from true gender equity.
Join us on Saturday, November 2nd in Danville for a special town hall titled "Women in Leadership, Politics, and Society."
