AT A GLANCE
In this week's Digest you will find more information on:
As we wrap up another busy District Work Period, I am excited to announce another town hall later this week in Oakley.
As I continue my work in the East Bay this month, I am hosting another town hall this Wednesday, April 23rd at 6:30 p.m. in Lafayette to provide an update on my work in Congress to hold the Administration accountable and to stand up for the American people.
Don’t forget to RSVP for our Immigration Town Hall and Resource Fair on Wednesday, April 16th in Danville. Starting at 5:30 p.m., local organizations will be available to share resources on navigating the immigration process, and I will kick off the town hall portion of the event at 6:30 p.m.
Last week, I went over to the Senate Floor to stand in solidarity with New Jersey Senator Cory Booker as he called attention to the illegal actions of the Trump Administration as it attempts to cut programs Americans rely on like health care and Social Security in the longest speech in Senate history.
I have heard from many of you about your worry and outrage about the Trump Administration's attacks on Social Security. Already, the Administration has slashed the Social Security Administration budget leading to office closures and firings.
In its first two months, the Trump Administration has continued to pursue policies that would harm Americans by cutting critical programs they rely on, including Medicaid, SNAP, and Social Security in order to give even more tax cuts to billionaires.
Across the country, House Democrats are holding town halls in our communities to hear directly from constituents concerned about the actions of the Trump Administration, particularly attempts to dismantle public education, rip away health care, and gut Social Security.
Last week during his joint address to Congress, the President falsely claimed that millions of dead people are receiving Social Security checks. While these lies have been repeatedly debunked, his comments and those of my Republican colleagues make clear that they want to cut Social Security and are trying to make it more palatable to do so by fabricating widespread fraud.
Last week, House Republicans narrowly passed their extreme, reckless budget that threatens to cut two trillion dollars across programs like Medicaid, student loans, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), school lunch programs, and more all to fund even more tax cuts for corporations and the ultrawealthy.
