DeSaulnier Digest
Across the country, House Democrats are holding town halls in our communities to hear directly from constituents concerned about the actions of the Trump Administration, particularly attempts to dismantle public education, rip away health care, and gut Social Security.
Last week during his joint address to Congress, the President falsely claimed that millions of dead people are receiving Social Security checks. While these lies have been repeatedly debunked, his comments and those of my Republican colleagues make clear that they want to cut Social Security and are trying to make it more palatable to do so by fabricating widespread fraud.
Last week, House Republicans narrowly passed their extreme, reckless budget that threatens to cut two trillion dollars across programs like Medicaid, student loans, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), school lunch programs, and more all to fund even more tax cuts for corporations and the ultrawealthy. In CA-10, these cuts would put more than 130,000 residents at risk of losing their health care, including children and seniors, and threaten SNAP benefits for 43,000.
Thank you to all those who joined our town hall last week at St. Mary's College in Moraga and the hundreds more who joined us via livestream.
The new Administration, led by unelected billionaire and DOGE head Elon Musk, continues to gut federal agencies, including the Federal Aviation Administration, National Institutes of Health, and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, making our country less safe.

IN THE COMMUNITY
The new Administration proposed an illegal federal funding freeze last week that would impact essential government programs ranging from Meals on Wheels to Head Start. Although it has been temporarily stopped by the courts, this funding freeze remains a threat to programs that serve the American people.
Over the past week, the new Administration has issued a flurry of concerning executive orders that would harm the American people, including by raising health care costs for seniors, levying reckless tariffs that will drive up consumer prices, threatening immigrant and LGBTQ+ communities, and rolling back progress on climate change.
Like many of you, I am concerned about the actions the new Administration has already taken and the threats they pose to our most vulnerable communities and to our economy. I am hosting a town hall to discuss the path forward under this new Administration on Thursday, January 30th at 6:30 p.m. in Walnut Creek.
