The recent District Work Period gave us a chance to visit a number of local schools and businesses, meet with constituents, and host a town hall alongside my colleague, Congressman Mike Thompson from St. Helena, CA. Read on for our recap of an eventful week in the community.
As the Senate impeachment trial of President Trump began this afternoon with debate about the rules and process, evidence continues to come to light affirming that the President abused the power of his office for personal gain.
Last week, I introduced legislation that would require vehicles purchased by the federal government to meet low greenhouse gas emissions standards. The Clean Federal Fleet Act (H.R. 5554) will ensure that the federal government leads the effort to mitigate the harmful effects of climate change by increasing fuel economy.
The first year of the 116th Congress has been productive and eventful. In addition to the impeachment of President Trump and other critical steps taken to hold the President and his Administration accountable, the Democratic Majority in the U.S. House of Representatives had many historic successes on behalf of the American people.
Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed articles of impeachment against President Donald J. Trump (H.Res. 755) for high crimes and misdemeanors.
IMPEACHMENT UPDATE
The House of Representatives will vote on impeachment of President Trump this week. As a member of the Rules Committee, Congressman DeSaulnier will begin consideration of the process for impeachment on Tuesday with the full House vote on the articles of impeachment expected on Wednesday.
