As we wrap up another busy District Work Period, I am excited to announce another town hall later this week in Oakley.
As we continue to see the effects of climate change here in California, from more devastating wildfires to more extreme temperatures, the Trump Administration's policies are undermining the tools we have to address this crisis, including rolling back environmental protections and withdrawing from the Paris Climate Agreement.
As I continue my work in the East Bay this month, I am hosting another town hall this Wednesday, April 23rd at 6:30 p.m. in Lafayette to provide an update on my work in Congress to hold the Administration accountable and to stand up for the American people. I have heard from thousands of constituents about your growing fear and anger at the actions of President Trump, and this event will be an opportunity for me to address your questions.

Starting at 5:30 p.m., local organizations will be available to share resources on navigating the immigration process, and I will kick off the town hall portion of the event at 6:30 p.m. where I will take your questions.

Last week, I went over to the Senate Floor to stand in solidarity with New Jersey Senator Cory Booker as he called attention to the illegal actions of the Trump Administration as it attempts to cut programs Americans rely on like health care and Social Security in the longest speech in Senate history. For over 25 hours, the Senator inspired our nation and drove home the point that we are not backing down.
I have heard from many of you about your worry and outrage about the Trump Administration's attacks on Social Security. Already, the Administration has slashed the Social Security Administration budget leading to office closures and firings. On top of that, led by DOGE, Trump and his team are attempting to cut another 10% of the workforce, which would almost certainly lead to delays in service for millions of Americans.
In its first two months, the Trump Administration has continued to pursue policies that would harm Americans by cutting critical programs they rely on, including Medicaid, SNAP, and Social Security in order to give even more tax cuts to billionaires.
