Walnut Creek, CA – Today, Congressman Mark DeSaulnier (CA-10) announced that he will host a town hall in Concord to discuss how he and his Democratic colleagues are fighting back in Congress against the actions of the Trump Administration, including efforts to gut Medicaid and Social Security, on Thursday, March 20th from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. PT.
Last week during his joint address to Congress, the President falsely claimed that millions of dead people are receiving Social Security checks. While these lies have been repeatedly debunked, his comments and those of my Republican colleagues make clear that they want to cut Social Security and are trying to make it more palatable to do so by fabricating widespread fraud.
Last week, House Republicans narrowly passed their extreme, reckless budget that threatens to cut two trillion dollars across programs like Medicaid, student loans, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), school lunch programs, and more all to fund even more tax cuts for corporations and the ultrawealthy. In CA-10, these cuts would put more than 130,000 residents at risk of losing their health care, including children and seniors, and threaten SNAP benefits for 43,000.
