Last week, eighty years to the day after the devastating explosion at the Port Chicago Naval Magazine in Concord, California on July 17, 1944, the U.S. Navy posthumously exonerated the Port Chicago 50 – African American sailors who were wrongfully and discriminately charged with mutiny after the incident.
Like many of you, I was shocked by the shooting at a Pennsylvania rally on Saturday. I join President Biden and leaders across the political spectrum in strongly denouncing political violence of any kind and am relieved that former President Trump is safe.
Last week was full of committee hearings and votes in D.C. as members prepared to head back to the districts they represent for the July 4th holiday.
