IMMIGRATION TOWN HALL
On Wednesday, October 6th at 6:00 p.m., join me for an Immigration Town Hall where I will provide an update on the latest efforts in Congress to advance comprehensive and compassionate immigration reform. Representatives from Catholic Charities, Stand Together Contra Costa, Jewish Family and Community Services East Bay, Haitian Bridge Alliance, and Contra Costa Asian Pacific Islander Advocacy Coalition will be on hand to answer questions and provide resources, including for recently evacuated Afghans and Haitian migrants.
AT A GLANCE
In this week's Digest, you will find information on:
The Bay Area, as the second largest oil refining center on the West Coast, has a unique role to play in the fight against climate change and the transition to clean energy. On Wednesday, September 22nd at 6:00 p.m. PT, I am hosting a town hall on the New Energy Economy and Contra Costa to discuss the impact the transition will have on our area, which is home to four oil refineries, and my efforts in Congress to support the workforce so that no one gets left behind as we move to a clean energy future.
This weekend, I joined our community in commemorating the 20th anniversary of 9/11. At each of these events, we came together and remembered in a special way all those lost on that tragic day, their loved ones, and the first responders whose heroism saved lives. We will never forget.
Sincerely,
Mark DeSaulnier
Member of Congress
As we celebrated Labor Day, I reflected on how essential the Labor Movement has been to our democracy by giving a voice to American workers & building the middle class. As a former labor union member and as a former small business owner, I have seen on both sides how important it is for workers to have a voice in their workplace. In this time of record-breaking inequality, we must continue our work.
With the Biden Administration having concluded the evacuation from Afghanistan, our office remains deeply concered about the safety and security of Americans on the ground and our Afghan partners and stands ready to help however we can.
Don't miss the chance to join me and Representative McNerney for an update on our work in Congress on behalf of the Bay Area TONIGHT at 5:30 p.m. PT. To join the virtual conversation, RSVP before 3:30 p.m. PT today by clicking here or on the image below.
Tomorrow August 17th at 6:00 p.m. PT, I am hosting a town hall on addressing the growing behavioral and mental health crisis. With millions more Americans struggling with mental health issues following the pandemic, this conversation is more important than ever.
