I am excited to share that I will be hosting my 200th town hall on Saturday, December 9th from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at The Bistro at Diablo Valley College’s Pleasant Hill Campus.
I voted last week for legislation to keep government open and working for the American people through the new year. While the bill brought forward by House Republicans was not perfect, it allowed us to avoid a government shutdown without exacting harmful spending cuts.
We had the privilege of joining the cities of Antioch, Brentwood, Oakley, Moraga, Lafayette, Martinez, Concord, Danville, and Walnut Creek as well as the Rossmoor community to celebrate Veterans Day over the weekend. This was a wonderful opportunity to thank the veterans of our community for their service and sacrifices for our country and our freedoms.

House Republicans last week elected Representative Mike Johnson as the 56th Speaker of the House after 22 days without a Speaker. The vacancy prevented the House from considering legislation to fund the government beyond the November 17th deadline, provide assistance to address global conflicts, and address other critical priorities.
After the extreme faction of the Republican Party voted to oust Kevin McCarthy as Speaker, Republicans in the House remain unable to come to a consensus on electing a new Speaker.
