In California, we have seen the consequences of climate change from more extreme wildfires and droughts to skyrocketing temperatures. As a longtime champion for policies that reduce greenhouse gases and protect the environment, I have been working to address the climate crisis by transitioning to a clean energy economy while ensuring no worker is left behind. This past week I introduced federal legislation to support the workforce as we make this transition.

It's been a busy District Work Period in CA-10! I hosted four town halls and appreciated hearing your thoughts on women's rights, gun violence prevention, transportation, and the Supreme Court. I also celebrated funding I brought home for projects in our community, including to rehabilitate creek habitats in Lafayette, build a new park in Oakley, and improve facilities at Contra Costa Health's Concord Shelter. I also kicked off my Small Business Listening Tour in downtown Walnut Creek and spent time visiting community organizations in East County.
As summer winds down, I am reflecting on all of the wonderful opportunities I had over this district work period to connect with you in the district through town halls, community events, individual meetings, and more.
On Tuesday August 27th, I am hosting a Transportation Town Hall at the Antioch Community Center at 6:30 p.m. to discuss reducing commute times and supporting working families as the Bay Area has a large population of mega-commuters who spend hours each day commuting between work and home.
With firearm deaths on the rise and guns now the leading cause of death for young people in our country, I am hosting a virtual Gun Violence Prevention Town Hall on Wednesday, August 14th at 1:00 p.m.

This week the House of Representatives kicks off August District Work Period, a wonderful opportunity for me to connect with you in our community as we hold town halls, office hours, and listening tours throughout the month.
Last week, eighty years to the day after the devastating explosion at the Port Chicago Naval Magazine in Concord, California on July 17, 1944, the U.S. Navy posthumously exonerated the Port Chicago 50 – African American sailors who were wrongfully and discriminately charged with mutiny after the incident.
Like many of you, I was shocked by the shooting at a Pennsylvania rally on Saturday. I join President Biden and leaders across the political spectrum in strongly denouncing political violence of any kind and am relieved that former President Trump is safe.
